ECAN Holds 2nd Induction Ceremony for Early Childhood Education Graduates at LASU
The Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) recently conducted its 2nd Induction Ceremony for graduating students of Early Childhood Education at Lagos State University (LASU).
The Early Childhood Association of Nigeria (ECAN) marked a significant milestone on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, as it conducted its 2nd Induction Ceremony for graduating students of Early Childhood Education at Lagos State University (LASU).
Held at the Conference Hall of the 3-in-1 Building, Faculty of Education, main campus, Ojo, Lagos, the event garnered participation from esteemed educators, guests, and ECAN members.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, Professor Olufemi Lawal, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, extended heartfelt congratulations to the inductees and the entire ECAN body. He emphasized the pivotal role of early childhood education as the foundation that shapes individuals' future endeavors. Additionally, he urged the newly inducted members to serve as exemplary ambassadors of the university and the department.
Professor Ife Abodunrin, representing the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Solomon Makinde, underscored the critical importance of early childhood education. He encouraged the inductees to recognize ECAN's value in advancing their careers and nurturing their professional development.

Addressing the gathering, the National President of ECAN, Professor Babajide Abidogun, emphasized the profound impact of early childhood education on lifelong learning and development. He urged the inductees to uphold their responsibility in nurturing young minds and fostering quality education and care. Prof. Abidogun highlighted the resources, support, and networking opportunities available through ECAN to further their careers and positively impact children and families nationwide.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ireti Odebowale, from the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling Psychology, delivered a brief lecture titled "Investing in Your Future: The Importance of Professional Induction and Continuous Education in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Related Disciplines." Dr. Odebowale stressed the significance of structured onboarding processes and continuous education in shaping professionals' careers and benefiting the field of ECE as a whole.
Following the lecture, Professor Babajide Abidogun administered the oath of allegiance to the inductees, and the founder of ECAN, Professor Ajike Florence Osanyin, formally admitted them into the association.
