IIQS, KHAIRUN and CEDAD Train Deaf Teachers on Qur’anic Recitation
The International Institute of Qur’anic Science (IIQS), Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), in collaboration with the Centre for Disability and Development (CEDAD), on Wednesday, 17th December, 2025 organised a specialised training on Qur’anic recitation for Deaf teachers.
Declaring the programme open, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, expressed deep appreciation to the organisers for initiating such a thoughtful and impactful programme. He described the training as a noble effort that reflects the true spirit of inclusion, compassion and service to humanity.
Prof. Garba noted that KHAIRUN remains firmly committed to providing an enabling and friendly environment for persons with special needs, stressing that the university deliberately puts in place necessary facilities and support systems to ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all. He added that the institution takes pride in promoting inclusivity and empowering every segment of society to participate meaningfully in religious and educational development.
The Vice-Chancellor further commended IIQS and CEDAD for their dedication to bridging communication gaps in Qur’anic education, stating that such initiatives strengthen social cohesion and reaffirm the university’s mission of combining academic excellence with moral and societal responsibility.
The training featured practical sessions on Qur’anic recitation techniques adapted for Deaf teachers, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
