Held on Tuesday, 30th April 2024, at the prestigious Buba Marwa Auditorium on the main campus in Ojo, Lagos, the event sought to inspire and equip students for entrepreneurial success.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Omotunde Boyo, emphasized the importance of embracing entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic empowerment. He urged students to harness their entrepreneurial potential and explore marketable skills relevant to their environment.
Highlighting the program's objectives, Prof. Olatunji-Bello underscored the significance of not only providing practical training but also fostering an environment where students' entrepreneurial ideas can thrive and evolve into sustainable ventures.

Addressing the gathering, the Acting Director of DSDE, Dr. Habeeb Sanni, reiterated the Directorate's commitment to preparing students for the evolving job market. He emphasized the need for universities to shift focus from producing job seekers to nurturing human capital capable of driving economic growth and innovation.
Dr. Sanni outlined various entrepreneurship skills offered by DSDE, including Event Planning, Bag Making, Makeup and Cosmetics, among others. He assured students of comprehensive grooming by experienced facilitators to become employers of labor.
The orientation featured a keynote address by Engr. Olubayo Akinwunmi, CEO/Managing Director of Sedav Projects and Construction Services Limited. Engr. Akinwunmi enlightened students on the essence of entrepreneurship, emphasizing its benefits and steps to achieve significance in life.
Additional insights were shared by Dr. Oni Buraimoh, Director of DICT, and Mr. Friday Nwokolo, National Sales Manager of FCMB. Mr. Nwokolo's engagement took an exciting turn when two students, active participants during the session, were appointed brand ambassadors of FCMB in LASU and received a monetary reward.
The event also provided an opportunity for students to interact with facilitators who would train them in various vocational skills, further enriching their entrepreneurial journey.
As LASU continues to prioritize entrepreneurship education, the orientation program marks a pivotal step towards empowering students to become impactful contributors to the economy and society at large.
