LASUED Hospitality and Tourism Department Concludes Two-Week Practical Examinations

The Hospitality and Tourism Department of the Centre for Diploma Programmes, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), has successfully concluded its two Saturdays' practical examinations, with the first session and final session held on Saturday, 31st and 7th February 2026 respectively, at Oloto Hall, Main Campus, Oto/Ijanikin.

The exercise formed part of the institution’s commitment to experiential learning, deliberately designed to complement classroom instruction with hands-on practical exposure in line with global best practices in hospitality and tourism education.

Throughout the programme, students demonstrated a high level of skill, creativity, and professionalism, showcasing competencies acquired during the course of their training. The practical examinations provided a platform for students to translate theoretical knowledge into real-world applications, further reinforcing the department’s focus on industry-relevant learning.

In his opening address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor M. A. Daodu, ably represented by Professor Johnson Mafikuyomi, welcomed guests and commended the students on the successful completion of the exercise. He encouraged them to sustain their commitment to excellence as they progress in their academic and professional journeys.

Professor Mafikuyomi conveyed the confidence of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okunneye, in the students’ abilities, reaffirming the University Management’s resolve to continuously enhance the learning environment and provide facilities that support quality teaching, learning, and skills development.

During the practical sessions, students prepared a variety of sumptuous dishes and were assessed on culinary competence, presentation, hygiene, teamwork, time management, and other essential hospitality attributes, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the assessment.
