UI Welcomes Pennsylvania State University Team, To Foster Strategic Partnership
The University of Ibadan (UI) welcomed a delegation from Pennsylvania State University (PSU) as part of the Kabiyesi Olowu Tertiary Institutions Consortium (KOTIC) partnership initiative.
In furtherance of the Kabiyesi Olowu Tertiary Institutions Consortium (KOTIC) partnership drive, the University of Ibadan (UI) hosted a delegation from Pennsylvania State University, USA, to establish a strategic collaboration.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Aderonke M. Baiyeroju, received the visiting team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS. Prof. Baiyeroju highlighted UI's commitment to providing a solid foundation for success to its graduates, ensuring their competitiveness globally.
Excitedly, Prof. Baiyeroju noted that the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Sakariya Adelola Matemilola (FNSE), and the leader of the visiting team, Prof. Sylvester Osagie, are both UI alumni, strengthening the collaboration between the two institutions.
Chief Abiodun Oladimeji Lasile, representing the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, emphasized that the partnership aims to benefit the partner institutions and society at large, encouraging UI to leverage the collaboration's opportunities.
Prof. Sylvester Osagie, Associate Director of African Partnerships at Pennsylvania State University, expressed his delight at returning to his Alma Mater, UI. The collaboration, initiated by Oba Professor Saka Adelola Matemilola, aims to unite Nigerian institutions like UI, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Bells University Ota, Crescent University Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, and Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Abeokuta with identified American institutions.

Thematic areas of collaboration include renewable energy, climate change, Information/Data Science, health, archaeology, archival and historical documentation, and entrepreneurship. The visiting team engaged with faculty in these areas, laying the groundwork for faculty and student exchange, Train-the-Trainer programmes, and study abroad initiatives.
This partnership underscores UI's dedication to fostering strategic international collaborations for academic and societal advancement.
