FUNAAB Pro-Chancellor Lays Foundation for Iconic 68-Room Multi-Storey Administrative Complex
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reached a major milestone in its infrastructural expansion following the foundation-laying ceremony of a landmark 68-room Administrative Complex.
The ceremony, held on January 31, 2026, was led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, HRM Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land. Upon completion, the edifice is set to become the tallest and most iconic structure on campus, designed to centralise administrative operations and enhance institutional efficiency.
The new complex is engineered to provide a world-class work environment. Key features include:
Centralised Operations: Consolidating key university departments into a single, accessible hub.
Inclusive Design: Equipping the multi-storey building with an elevator to ensure accessibility for all staff and visitors.
Iconic Architecture: Positioned as a focal point of the university’s modern landscape.
The Pro-Chancellor lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for his administration's "prudent financial management," which enabled the project's take-off. He further issued a mandate to the contractors for strict adherence to quality specifications, announcing a follow-up inspection by the Governing Council in March.
Beyond the new complex, the Pro-Chancellor conducted an inspection of existing facilities to ensure optimal utility:
Swimming Pool Rehabilitation: Oba Olabomi urged management to restore the university’s 2010-constructed swimming pool for staff and student recreation.
Council Residential Quarters: The team inspected the proposed site for the Governing Council’s residential area, further signaling long-term campus planning.
The event was attended by Principal Officers, including the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, and the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, as part of the university's commitment to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through transparent and robust governance.
