A three-member team raised by the NUC to carry out the assignment had earlier on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, who welcomed and wished members of the team success.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has assessed the activities of the Directorate of University Advancement, Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) office and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 

A three-member team raised by the NUC to carry out the assignment had earlier on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, who welcomed and wished members of the team success. 

Two other members of the team are Barrister Paschal A. Eruage and Hajiya Zahra’u Mahmood, all from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The team leader, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who is the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), thanked the University for according them warm reception. 

Prof. Bello, who met Management staff of the University again during an exit visit, commended the Directorate of University Advancement for its solicitation efforts and expansion of its activities. 

He also commended the University ENACTUS team for producing shoe polish (POP), and urged the University management to commercialize the product as a source of internally generated revenue (IGR) for the institution. 

The leader of the team equally expressed satisfaction with the activities of the University SIWES office, saying “The SIWES is a very organized unit, with all its records well documented”. 

Prof. Bello also spoke on Industrial Training Fund (ITF) supervision fees, alumni contribution through the endowment fund, upgrade of computers and additional manpower. 

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, thanked the team and assured them of his commitment towards improving the areas identified.   

Those who helped the Vice-Chancellor to receive the team included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Danladi A. Ameh; Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Bello Mukhtar; the Coordinator, SIWES, Prof. Rabiu Nasiru; the Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. Idris Bashir Bugaje; and Deputy Director, Planning and Statistics, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Abdulazeez Hassan.
